We are excited to welcome our two new National Organizers, MARGARET KWATENG
and KITZIA ESTEVA-MARTINEZ (see bios below), and we wish well in their next
steps our team members who have transition out of the GGJ team, Cynthia
Oka, Jade Daniels and Sheila Quintana. As our GGJ team continues to
transform, we are currently on the lookout for an experienced
Communications and Development Organizer [2] and Director of Resource

Margaret Kwateng,

Margaret Kwateng (she/her) is the National Green New Deal Organizer at
Grassroots Global Justice, where she is working with members to build
toward a regenerative feminist economy. Prior to joining GGJ, Margaret
worked for years as a community and labor organizer in working class
communities of color and with rank and file nurses. In 2014, she co-founded
Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson, a multi-issue community organization in upstate
New York. As a former member of GGJ’s sister alliance, Right to the City,
Margaret’s became plugged into GGJ activities such as the CJA conference
in 2015, the ITR People’s Caravan in 2016, as well as local and broader
actions throughout 2017. She currently lives in Brooklyn, where she was
born and raised, though her time in the Hudson Valley led her to an
unexpected appreciation of the outdoors and uncommon CSA vegetables.

KITZIA ESTEVA-MARTINEZ, GRASSROOTS FEMINISMS NATIONAL ORGANIZER

Kitzia (they/ theirs) is originally from Mexico. Their family migrated to
the U.S. due to environmental racism in their home town that devastated
their nephews' health. They come from a movement family that has supported
movement building both in Mexico and in the California Bay Area. They have
been involved in the immigrant rights and anti-criminalization movements
for the last decade. And have a trajectory of 17 years of involvement in
social justice movements in the U.S. since their arrival from Mexico as a
youth. They are the former Community Rights Director for Causa Justa:: Just
Cause, a member organization of GGJ.

Seeking resource mobilizers and rad communicators to join our team! Join us
to mobilize more resources to support frontline communities and movement
building. Please circulate these postings within your communities and

sectors that GGJ is rooted in.

September, 2020.

FLEXIBLE LOCATION: GGJ’s team has worked remotely for 15 years. During
COVID-19 travel restrictions, all of our programming and organizing work is
happening remotely/online. Once travel is not deemed a public health risk
and restrictions are lifted, travel will be required for this position on
average 5-10 days per month in the US, and 15 days per year
internationally.

COMMUNICATIONS & DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZER [2]

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will lead seasonal grassroots fundraising
efforts; write and submit grants and reports; lead internal communications
and systems; design visuals for digital and printed materials. Applicants
must have a strong ability to build relationships with integrity and
humility, work independently, forecast and plan multiple projects several
months in advance, attention to detail as well as big picture political
analysis, and consistent communication while working remotely. This
position will report to the GGJ Director of Resource Development and the
Director of Communications.

COMPENSATION: $60,000-$65,000. This position is full-time with potential
for long term based on evaluation after 3 month introductory period.
Benefits including health, dental, vision and life insurance begin on first
month after date of hire, and includes generous vacation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• COMMUNICATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES (50%) Lead GGJ internal communications
and digital organizing, maintain & improve GGJ internal communications
systems, lists, etc., develop imagery for organizational materials

• DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (40%) Lead Seasonal grassroots
fundraising efforts, support grant writing, support member fundraising for
key programs as needed (1-2 times/year)

• PARTICIPATE IN GGJ TEAM (10%) Active and timely response on all
communications; attend weekly virtual meetings with staff, members and
allies; participate in and support preparation for quarterly staff
meetings; annual Coordinating Committee meetings, and other events and
convenings as necessary; compliance with GGJ remote working policies and
procedures

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• At least 3 years of grassroots fundraising and/or communications
experience

• Experience with development and/or comms roles in Black & Brown led
organizations

• Strong writing and editing skills

DIRECTOR OF RESOURCE MOBILIZATION [3]

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will lead strategies for Resource
Development and Funder Organizing for GGJ and in collaboration with sister
organizations, supervise development staff and contractors, support
financial management and elevate the visibility of GGJ members within
philanthropy. Applicants must have a strong ability to build relationships
with integrity and humility, work independently, forecast and plan multiple
projects several months in advance, attention to detail as well as big
picture political analysis, and consistent communication while working
remotely. This position will report to the GGJ Deputy Director.

COMPENSATION: $70,000-$73,000. This position is full-time with potential
for long term based on evaluation after 3 month introductory period.
Benefits including health, dental, vision and life insurance begin on first
month after date of hire, and includes generous vacation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• LEAD OVERALL DEVELOPMENT PLAN (50%) Coordinate GGJ Development Team,
supervise Communications & Development Organizer, lead grant writing, lead
prospecting strategies, Coordinate with C4 fundraising infrastructure (to
be determined)

• LEAD FUNDER ORGANIZING STRATEGY (20%) Coordinate GGJ’s participation
in funder organizing initiatives, coordinate GGJ’s representation in
philanthropic spaces as needed, represent GGJ on It Takes Roots Development
Team to coordinate with sister alliances

• SUPPORT FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (20%) Support Deputy Director with
Budget management & planning, work with staff to support their
understanding and ownership of budget needs for programs and work areas,
participate in finance meetings every other week

• PARTICIPATE IN GGJ TEAM (10%) Active and timely response on all
communications; attend weekly virtual meetings with staff, members and
allies; participate in and support preparation for quarterly staff
meetings; annual Coordinating Committee meetings, and other events and
convenings as necessary; compliance with GGJ remote working policies and

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Margaret Kwateng (ella) es la nueva Organizadora Nacional del Nuevo Trato
Verde en Grassroots Global Justice, donde está trabajando con miembros
para construir una economía feminista regenerativa. Antes de unirse a GGJ,
Margaret trabajó durante años como organizadora comunitaria y laboral en
comunidades de color de clase trabajadora y con enfermeras de las bases. En

Kitzia (elle) es originalmente de México. Su familia migró a los EE.UU.
por el racismo ambiental en su pueblo natal, el cual devastó la salud de
su sobrino. Proviene de una familia del movimiento que ha apoyado el
desarrollo de movimientos en México así como en el Área de la Bahía en
California. Ha estado involucrade en los movimientos de derechos de
inmigrantes y anti-criminalización en el Área de la Bahía en California.
Y tiene una trayectoria de 17 años de participación en movimientos de
justicia social en los EE.UU. desde su llegada de México como joven. Es le
anterior Directore de Derechos Comunitarios de Causa Justa :: Just Cause,
una organización miembro de GGJ.
