Bears Should Be Safe in Wildlife Refuges
View this email in a browser. [[link removed]] [[link removed]]Dear John,
Alaska’s bears need your help.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) plans to rescind regulations
protecting animals in Alaska’s Kenai National Wildlife Refuge — including
allowing bear baiting. Bear baiting involves feeding bears at a designated
station, so that they become familiar with the location as a food source —
subsequently, making them easy targets for hunters.

TAKE ACTION
[[link removed]]As bears prepare for hibernation, they eat excessive amounts of food to put on
an additional 20 to 40 pounds. Baiting stations take advantage of this natural
behavior — and hunters lure bears with donuts, grease, and other high calorie
foods in mass. Bears and all wild animals should be safe in our nation’s
refuges.
Submit a comment to the U.S. FWS by August 10th and urge them to reject this
rule and protect Alaska’s bears from cruel trophy hunters

For the animals,
Kim Kelly
