The Miracle behind Team USA
The inspirational story of the historic 1980 Winter Olympics gold medal game between the underdog Team USA and the favored Soviet Union – as told in the 2004 film Miracle – illustrates the power of coming together from different cultures and backgrounds. In this piece, Kelley Jiou ([link removed]) , director of leadership programs at the Bush Institute, writes that the elements highlighted in the movie are the same ones that underpin a strong democracy. As the 2026 Winter Games begin, let’s embrace the power of diversity as we cheer on Team USA!
