Asian Americans are part of the story and history of this country. We've centered the stories and carried forward the struggles of generations who built this country, who fought for belonging, and who refused to be erased from the American story. That same resilience and collective action are what we bring to this pivotal moment.
In places like Minneapolis and across the country, Asian American communities and allies are organizing on the ground to protect immigrant families, and respond to escalating enforcement that threatens lives, livelihoods and our family's safety.
And we remain committed to supporting local efforts in Minnesota ([link removed]) and nationwide to keep families together, defend human dignity, and demand accountability from Congress and the Administration to uphold civil rights. Our communities have continued to advocate, educate and empower in the face of exclusion and injustice, showing what is possible when resilience is met with collective action.
Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC has stood alongside communities to advance our civil and human rights. As we approach our 35th anniversary this year, we do so at a pivotal moment, one that calls for sustained investment, shared leadership, and a renewed commitment to justice as we confront both persistent inequities and emerging threats.

Condemns Fatal ICE Shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis
Advancing Justice – AAJC condemns the recent fatal shootings by federal ICE agents in Minneapolis, acts that have devastated the victim’s family and shaken communities already on edge. Local leaders and residents have raised serious concerns about the use of lethal force and the lack of transparency surrounding these incidents, and we join calls for a full, independent investigation and accountability for those responsible.

Decries Hateful and Unwarranted Immigrant Visa Pause
On January 14, 2026, the U.S. Department of State announced an indefinite pause on immigrant visas for nationals of 75 countries, including many Asian nations. Advancing Justice – AAJC strongly condemns this policy, which disproportionately targets immigrants of color, separates families, and undermines long-established immigration pathways. The pause echoes racially discriminatory policies of the past and threatens over 135,000 Asian immigrant visa holders.

Advancing Justice – AAJC calls on the administration to reverse this harmful decision and work with Congress to expand, rather than restrict, access to immigration.
