John, President Trump and his MAGA allies drove us into this egregious redistricting crisis. It started with them forcing unprecedented gerrymanders in Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina.

They’re demanding an unearned advantage in the midterms because — let’s be honest — they’re scared of losing a free and fair election.

We saw it in California, where voters approved a temporary measure to redraw its map to counter Texas’s gerrymander. In Indiana, a bipartisan coalition rejected an extreme gerrymander. And right now, Virginia, Maryland, and other states are in the process of mobilizing to level the playing field with the approval and input from their voters.

It’s clear that opposition to the redistricting crisis is growing louder.

What happened in Indiana, where Republicans voted alongside Democrats — despite MAGA-led threats of violence against them and their families, as well as Trump threatening to strip the state of federal funding — was a defiant display of resistance.
