Mebane Rash is a North Carolina native who lives in Deep Gap and brings a long-standing commitment to strengthening public education and access to information across NC.

A lawyer by training and a public school graduate, Mebane is the founding CEO and editor-in-chief of EdNC.org ([link removed]) , a nonprofit news organization dedicated to telling essential education stories from every corner of North Carolina. Her work — grounded in relationships, on-the-ground reporting and a belief that the word “all” truly matters — aligns closely with ZSR’s values and approach.

“Public service leadership has to extend to all of North Carolina,” Mebane says. “I’m excited to give back in service to ZSR’s mission to improve the quality of life for all of us.”

Senator DeAndrea Salvador is a fifth-generation Charlottean with deep ties to Mecklenburg County and a lifelong commitment to serving her community.

Before joining the North Carolina Senate at age 30 — the youngest woman ever elected to that body — DeAndrea founded and led a nonprofit focused on reducing household energy costs for working families. Her experience bridging nonprofit leadership and public service brings a critical, community-centered perspective to ZSR’s work.

“The only way we can tackle the challenges facing North Carolinians is by working together,” DeAndrea says. “I look forward to serving on the ZSR board and learning from my fellow North Carolinians.”
