** The Tragic Killing of Alex Pretti, and Why We Must Act
------------------------------------------------------------

Last weekend, tens of thousands of people gathered in Minneapolis to protest the continued presence of DHS agents in their streets. An event that should have been about solidarity instead became another example of why ICE must be abolished and Kristi Noem must be impeached NOW!

Alex Pretti was shot by federal agents after stopping to help a woman they had pushed to the ground. Alex was not a threat. He wasn’t committing a crime. And yet he was murdered on the streets of Minneapolis.

The Trump Administration is doing what it always does: lying to try and blame the victim instead of holding their agents accountable.

This wasn’t law enforcement. This was an execution carried out by a deputized force that operated with zero accountability and total impunity.

ICE has become a state-sanctioned terror squad.

They storm communities. They terrorize children and families. They detain people without due process. And now they’re killing Americans in broad daylight, releasing statements full of lies trying to convince us to not believe our own eyes when faced with the truth.

We cannot reform this. We must dismantle it.

We demand accountability. We demand the truth. And we demand the abolition of ICE. It is the most humanity centered action we can take.

We pray for the families of all who have lost their lives and been terrorized at the hands of ICE agents. Our communities deserve safety, dignity, and justice. Nothing less.

** Which Candidates are Prioritizing Humanity?
------------------------------------------------------------

The Prioritize Humanity Pledge is our line in the sand. It’s a commitment from candidates and voters alike to demand justice, accountability, and leaders who consistently prioritize and defend our shared humanity. Full stop.

This pledge is another step we can take to make it clear which candidates are ready to govern with humanity at the center of their values.

What does real political power look like beyond Election Day?

Building Black and Brown Political Power: Beyond the Ballot Box is an upcoming event focused on the critical, and often misunderstood, structures that make sustained civic power possible. The conversation will break down the distinct roles of nonprofits and PACs, and how each contributes to the long-term Black and Brown political empowerment.

While voting efforts are essential, they are only the starting point. Lasting influence requires year-round organizing, strategic infrastructure, and a clear understanding of how different entities can be used together to protect communities and advance equality.

This event will demystify these tools, clarify their legal boundaries, and show why 501(c)(3)s, 501(c)(4)s, and Political Action Committees work best in coordination, not isolation.

📅 January 29th

⏰ 12:30 PM

📍 Howard University Law School | 2900 Van Ness St, NW, Room HH2, Washington, DC 20008

Building power doesn’t stop at the ballot box. It starts with knowledge and grows with action.

Several states have voter registration deadlines coming up in February, and missing them could mean losing your voice in critical primary elections this year.

Whether you’ve moved, changed your name, or just haven’t checked your status recently, now is the moment to make sure you’re registered and ready. These deadlines come fast, and once they pass, they’re no do-overs.

This year’s mid-terms will be decided in the primaries! Who are the candidates speaking up for Gaza, for immigrants, for affordability, for child safety, for humanity? We can’t wait to just vote in November.

Taking a few minutes today can make the difference between sitting out and being stuck with whatever candidate scrapes by on name recognition alone, or truly having a say in who represents your community.

👉 Check your voter registration status now at Vote.org ([link removed]) or using your state’s official election website.

Democracy only works when we participate. Don’t wait—make sure your voice is counted.
