** Wiley’s Richmond Report
------------------------------------------------------------

** Week 2
------------------------------------------------------------

Friends,

Our first full week in the General Assembly has wrapped up, and as we brace for a wave of snow, we’re also facing a wave of troubling legislation coming out of Richmond. One of the most concerning proposals is ([link removed]) HB978 ([link removed]) . Below is a breakdown of how it would impact your everyday spending. This isn’t a luxury tax—it’s a tax on your haircut, your gym membership, your Netflix subscription, and more. ([link removed])

Y ([link removed]) ou know I am a big fan of football, that’s why HB145 ([link removed]) was another disappointment. A tax on fantasy football might not sound like a big deal, but the extra 10% charged to operators will be passed down to consumers in the form of higher entry fees, lower payouts, and less promotions and bonuses.

As a proud grandson of a distinguished graduate of VMI, who served our Commonwealth on and off the battlefield, ([link removed]) HB1374 ([link removed]) was shocking. The Democrat’s ([link removed]) open attempt to dissolve VMI and roll its governance over to Virginia State University is not only misguided, but a direct attack on a historic institution that has served the Commonwealth for generations.

These are just a few of countless proposals that would make life more unaffordable, fund social agendas, and divert attention from the real needs of everyday Virginians.

** *Special Election Alert! April 21st*
------------------------------------------------------------

The gerrymandering fight continues to unfold in darkness. With thirty minutes notice on Thursday, I was called into an emergency appropriations meeting. The purpose? An allocation of $5.2 million to cover the cost for the special election on April 21st. This flies in the face of the promise of affordability preached by the left.

On the floor, my colleagues across the aisle told us how they were forced to redistrict because of what’s happening at the federal level. Well, I have a reminder. Two wrongs don’t make a right. The goal is to send at least ten Democrats to Congress in a state that most years is evenly split down the middle.

The proposed ballot question is listed below. My team and I made several attempts to push back on the wording of "restore fairness," but were blocked by the super majority.

Now, it’s up to you. You can get on the permanent absentee ballot list here ([link removed]) and ensure that you do not miss the opportunity to protect our Commonwealth.

As always, if I or my office can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to reach out. Enjoy the winter weather, and stay safe.
NEVER MISS AN ELECTION! ([link removed])
