What’s at Stake: Supreme Court Cases That Could Reshape LGBTQ+ Rights
The week, the U.S. Supreme Court has heard cases that could have sweeping—and dangerous—implications for LGBTQ+ people nationwide [[link removed]] .
At the center are challenges to state bans on transgender girls participating in school sports, where several justices appeared skeptical that these laws constitute sex discrimination [[link removed]] . If upheld, these bans could do far more than sideline trans youth [[link removed]] : they may open the door to invasive sex testing for girls, erode long-standing civil rights protections, and set a precedent that allows states to target transgender people under the guise of “fairness.” [[link removed]]
The consequences of these rulings could ripple far beyond athletics, threatening hard-won protections across education, employment, and public life [[link removed]] .
At the same time, extremist lawmakers are already signaling how far they’re willing to go if the Court continues to roll back LGBTQ+ rights. In Tennessee, Rep. Gino Bulso has introduced a slate of anti-LGBTQ bills explicitly aimed at challenging Supreme Court precedent, including Obergefell v. Hodges [[link removed]] . His proposals seek to undermine marriage equality, weaken anti-discrimination protections, and ban Pride flags and symbols from state property; an alarming reminder that attacks on LGBTQ+ rights don’t stop at the courtroom door. The state has also passed an anti-drag bill this year [[link removed]] .
These coordinated efforts underscore what’s at stake right now: our visibility, our protections, and our fundamental right to live openly and equally under the law.
Angie Craig: Ready to Take Her Fight for Equality to the U.S. Senate
Out Rep. Angie Craig has proven time and again that she doesn’t shy away from tough fights—whether calling out an “out-of-control” ICE after a violent attack [[link removed]] , leading efforts to hold Trump Administration officials accountable [[link removed]] , or pushing legislation to end discrimination against LGBTQ+ youth in foster care [[link removed]] .
Now, as she runs to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate, Craig is making the case that this moment demands experienced, values-driven leadership [[link removed]] . Electing Angie Craig means elevating a proven advocate with the courage to stand up, speak out, and bring an unapologetically LGBTQ+ voice to one of the most powerful chambers in the country [[link removed]] .
