Big tech has a responsibility to protect users
Dear Friend,
If you’ve been reading these emails over the past few months, you’ll already know that Google has ended its financial support for Full Fact.
The company has been one of our biggest funders over the past three years, giving over £1,000,000 in 2024. Google’s support helped us build some of the best AI tools for fact checking in the world. But things have now changed.

Fact checking has never seen a threat like this. Google's decision is linked to a dangerous new narrative, fuelled by the US government's stance, attacking fact checking, equating it with censorship, and threatening all it stands for.
With Google funding gone, we are urgently refocussing our fundraising efforts for the year ahead. A growing number of concerned supporters are setting up monthly Direct Debits and these are becoming ever more important to our financial sustainability. Can you join them today? ([link removed])

2026 will be a hugely challenging year. With AI-generated misinformation becoming ever more sophisticated and the Trump administration openly hostile to fact checkers, Full Fact will continue to be a source of impartial, verified facts. We add to debate, we don't restrict it. We promote more speech, not less.
Our fact checks are free to read but not to produce. Please help keep Full Fact impartial, independent and secure by setting up a Direct Debit today. ([link removed])
