Weekend Reading
Hi Friend,
ICE and Border Patrol agents do not belong in our communities. The killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE agents in Minneapolis is a devastating reminder of the violence of immigration enforcement. Our hearts are with her family, her loved ones, and the whole Minneapolis community.
The killing comes as the Trump administration takes brutal measures to detain and deport more people. Despite the risks, communities across the country have courageously taken a stand. Many are participating in ICE watch programs, sharing know-your-rights information, and working to stop deportations.
The power of our collective action brings hope in dark times. We will not be deterred. Tell Congress and the Trump administration: Get ICE and Border Patrol out of our communities —stop deportations now . [link removed]
TAKE ACTION
Tell Congress: NO war on Venezuela! [link removed]
Thank you to everyone who contacted Congress to oppose the war on Venezuela! Our pressure is working. Last week, the Senate voted to advance a war powers resolution barring further military force against Venezuela without congressional approval. But we must keep it up. The full Senate is expected to vote on the measure soon. And the House must act, too. War and militarism will never lead to peace. If you haven't already, please send a message today and share widely. [link removed] To learn more, read this explainer from AFSC's Mike Merryman-Lotze. [link removed]

Kim Reynolds agreed to opt into the USDA’s Sun Bucks program. This program will provide eligible students with $120 in food assistance during the three months when school is out. Read more. PALESTINIAN RIGHTS
6 things you need to know about Israeli violence in the West Bank [link removed]
By Nusaiba Mubarak
Over the past two years, millions of people worldwide have protested Israel’s genocide in Gaza. But a parallel crisis has been taking place at the same time. While the Israeli government has committed genocide in Gaza, it has also killed hundreds and displaced tens of thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank. Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank are not separate. They are part of the same system of apartheid designed to remove Palestinians from their land and deny them their human rights. STRONGER WITH IMMIGRANTS
How ICE’s detention system makes people untraceable [link removed]
By Diana Flores
When someone is detained by immigration enforcement, their families often can’t find them for days. They don’t appear in public databases. And staff with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection frequently can’t—or refuse to—provide information. AFSC staff have been helping families find their loved ones and documenting the difficulties they encounter. “Every case we track, every call we log, builds evidence of systemic failures that demand accountability and change.” Diana writes.
