Hi Friend,
ICE and Border Patrol agents do not belong in our communities. The killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE agents in Minneapolis is a devastating reminder of the violence of immigration enforcement. Our hearts are with her family, her loved ones, and the whole Minneapolis community.
The killing comes as the Trump administration takes brutal measures to detain and deport more people. Despite the risks, communities across the country have courageously taken a stand. Many are participating in ICE watch programs, sharing know-your-rights information, and working to stop deportations.
The power of our collective action brings hope in dark times. We will not be deterred. Tell Congress and the Trump administration: Get ICE and Border Patrol out of our communities—stop deportations now.

Love as Action: Quaker Public Witness (Jan. 17)
Quakers have a long history of bearing witness to cruel and authoritarian actions in the U.S. Today, AFSC and Friends invite people around the country to do so once again. We are organizing silent vigils in Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Berkeley, Des Moines, and Memphis, with more communities joining every day. We encourage you to join us if you are in the area or organize your own community for an event. AFSC will help you coordinate to make your gathering a success. Find an event in your area or find out how to host your own.

6 things you need to know about Israeli violence in the West Bank By Nusaiba Mubarak
Over the past two years, millions of people worldwide have protested Israel’s genocide in Gaza. But a parallel crisis has been taking place at the same time. While the Israeli government has committed genocide in Gaza, it has also killed hundreds and displaced tens of thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank. Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank are not separate. They are part of the same system of apartheid designed to remove Palestinians from their land and deny them their human rights. How ICE’s detention system makes people untraceable By Diana Flores
When someone is detained by immigration enforcement, their families often can’t find them for days. They don’t appear in public databases. And staff with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection frequently can’t—or refuse to—provide information. AFSC staff have been helping families find their loved ones and documenting the difficulties they encounter. “Every case we track, every call we log, builds evidence of systemic failures that demand accountability and change.” Diana writes.
