Folks, data centers to power AI are popping up around the country, especially in places with a lot of water nearby – like our Great Lakes.
Some folks are embracing these changes, others are concerned about the environmental impacts and potential electric bill hikes.
The thing is ... the genie might be out of the bottle when it comes to AI. It's here, and it's not going away. If that's the case:
1️⃣ We should use it for good things,
2️⃣ We definitely can't let billionaires run with it, and
3️⃣ Companies should pay for the energy they use.
John's already working to make sure AI is used responsibly. Right before the holidays, he introduced a bipartisan bill to help academic and industry researchers share and process information. It'll help our country innovate and move faster – that's how we compete.
But John knows we can't let Big Tech run wild. No one gets a blank check.
Axios reported that the CEO of a self-driving truck company REJECTED Teamsters' demand for human operators. Not on our watch. 🙅
John stands with the Teamsters. We can't have robots replacing good union jobs, especially when public safety is at risk. These rigs should always have a trained professional in the cab. Roads are not a tech experiment.
