A strong step forward: FDA acts on disposable e-cigarettes ([link removed])

The Food and Drug Administration’s action against the makers of Puff Bar, and nine additional disposable e-cigarette manufacturers, to remove their flavored and youth-appealing products from the market for not having the required pre-market authorization is a strong, but overdue, step forward. It is also not a substitute for comprehensive regulation to keep flavored e-cigarettes out of the hands of vulnerable teens being aggressively targeted by the growing number of disposable e-cigarette companies.

Colorado – Gov. Polis signed into law a T21 bill that requires every tobacco retailer to have a state license, which also entails checks to ensure retailers are in compliance. The law will also hold retailers accountable for preventing underage sales and removes a criminal penalty for minors caught purchasing nicotine products.

Hayward, California – The city council passed an ordinance that prohibits the sale of all flavored tobacco products, prohibits the sale of all e-cigarette products and prohibits the sale of tobacco products in pharmacies, among other provisions.
