A Note from A’shanti:

When others fail, Democratic women step up and lead.

Earlier this summer, Emerge expanded our commitment in the fight for racial equity and justice by pledging to fill the pipeline with women who will run for offices that are rewriting our criminal justice policies, recruiting and training more Black women leaders to run at every level of office, and continuing to support these candidates with a powerful network as they campaign to win.

This year, more than 700 Emerge alums are on the ballot, ready to fight for their communities. Look no further than Virginia and Nevada for examples of how women are transforming the very definition of public service.

This week we spoke to Speaker Sara Gideon on our virtual salon series, who is leading in Maine during these challenging times while also at the forefront of flipping the Senate. If you haven’t been able to join our virtual salon series, there’s still time!

Click here to RSVP for our next #LeadersMatter salon with Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and stay tuned for more sessions to come.

This election cycle has been different than others, but the stakes have never been higher. If you want to continue to support Democratic women who have stepped up to run in these unprecedented times, please consider making a gift to Emerge today. [link removed]

Warmly,
A’shanti Gholar

Emerge alums across the country are stepping up in their communities to lead through these unparalleled times. Here’s how strong leadership changes the conversation in communities across the country:

Mayor London Breed nominated Malia Cohen to lead their community through action on critical reforms in policing. [link removed]

Across the country in Boston, Emerge alums have stepped up to transform local policing. [link removed]

And in Colorado, our alums have introduced a package of life-saving bills. [link removed]

Last month, 92% of Emerge candidates in Georgia prevailed in their primary. In New Mexico 88% won. We saw similar results in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Virginia as alums continued to flip critical seats from red to blue. [link removed]

While we’re celebrating the wins of Emerge Alums, take a minute to check out ‘Races to Watch’, a series on our (newly relaunched) Youtube channel that will help you stay ahead of what to keep on your radar. [link removed]

And we’re partnering up with our friends at EMILY’s List to launch a series of honest conversations with women who are serving their communities. Join us for this frank and engaging series about what it means for women to lead. [link removed]

Earlier this year, we launched a series of webinars: Campaigning through Crisis. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to uproot traditional campaigning, we’re helping Democratic women rethink how to innovate and adapt — from hitting their fundraising goals to talking to voters. This email was sent to [email protected]. Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are working to bring their values up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities like the environment, accessible and affordable healthcare, social justice and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

Email is the best way for us to keep you informed about what’s happening with our work. You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support—that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women.
