Dear Friends,
Before I share a personal reflection with you, I want to begin with a simple, heartfelt request:
If TAC’s work has helped you, your loved ones, or your understanding of severe mental
illness this year, will you make a donation today to support our End-of-Year Campaign?
Your generosity ensures that families across the country continue to have a place to turn when
they feel lost or overwhelmed.
As a family member and a clinician, I know how isolating it can feel when someone you
love is living with severe mental illness. Unless you’ve lived it, it’s hard to understand the
fear and heartbreak of watching a loved one struggle without the care they need.
At TAC, many of us have been in that same place. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to offer
guidance rooted in compassion and lived experience.
This year, our most-watched SMI Spotlight episode — “Ask Dr. Amador: Navigating
Severe Mental Illness” — reached more than 6,300 viewers. In it, I answer real questions
from families about delusions, anosognosia, communication, long-term planning, and breaking
the cycle of hospitalization and homelessness.
If you’ve watched, I hope it brought clarity and hope. If not, I encourage you to watch — the
stories are powerful, and they remind us how many families are walking this path.
As we near the final days of our End-of-Year Campaign, I’m asking again for your
support: Will you make a donation today to ensure this lifeline continues for every family
who needs it?

Your gift keeps our helpline open, supports our Schizophrenia and Psychosis Resource Center,
and allows us to produce episodes that answer the questions families are afraid to ask
anywhere else.
Thank you for being part of this community. We truly cannot do this work without you.
With gratitude and hope,
Dr. Xavier Amador
P.S. If you haven’t seen it yet, please take a moment to watch “Ask Dr. Amador: Navigating
Severe Mental Illness.” You can also explore other episodes from this year — each one is made
to support you and your family. And THANK YOU for subscribing, liking, sharing the podcast
with your communities, and submitting questions for our “Ask Dr. Amador” episodes.
If you would like to support TAC's programs, please consider a donation today.
