Hi there,
One of the most exciting parts about Ground Truth (our innovative voter
contact program that Swing Left is scaling up in all of 33 of our target
swing districts in 2026), is building new technology and tools to utilize
the rich, valuable insights that Swing Left volunteers are hearing from
voters through the program.
Traditional voter contact tools were designed for short, transactional
conversations, focused on a selective slice of voters, with interactions
summarized by a set of pre-defined responses to fixed questions.
But Ground Truth aims to move beyond this narrow and rigid approach.
It centers real, open-ended conversations with every voter in a swing
district—conversations meant to build trust and surface what people
actually care about—and it requires new technology to support it. Here’s
what we’ve got in the works:
➡️ A new, modern canvassing app that allows volunteers to take detailed,
free-form notes about what voters share and track follow-up needs.
Importantly, it also allows volunteers to add new people they meet outside
of a traditional door knock—like running into someone while they’re
walking the dog. The notes gathered can then be securely stored and
analyzed.
➡️ AI-assisted analysis conducted by Swing Left to surface common themes
and emerging concerns across communities, allowing us to identify key
insights from voter conversations.
➡️ A new central data platform that serves as the program’s single source
of truth, allowing Swing Left to organize and visualize what volunteers
are hearing in real time, and to responsibly share relevant insights with
Democratic campaigns and party committees.
Together, these innovations mean we can scale up Ground Truth to make an
impact in all 33 of Swing Left’s target districts. This technology is
reimagining systems from the ground up to build the infrastructure
Democrats need to listen, rebuild trust, and win close races.
But as you can imagine, it takes a serious amount of resources to build
these new tools!
