Pilot Project in Southern Haiti Shows Encouraging Results

Amid ongoing violence and hardship in Haiti, Quixote Center partnered with Haitian Christian Community Development (DCCH) to help 100 of the most vulnerable farming families in Les Cayes rebuild their livelihoods. Through seed and livestock loan programs, microcredit unions, and hands-on training, families are increasing food production, generating income, and empowering women--all using a sustainable, community-led model. In just nine months, harvest yields have skyrocketed, three microcredit unions are operating, and livestock and seed-sharing cycles are expanding benefits to new families. These early results show real hope for long-term recovery. With your continued support, this proven pilot can deepen its impact and help even more families move out of extreme poverty.

This year cost of the project was $750 per family while in 2026, for just $350 per family, this first cohort will consolidate the lessons learned and gain access to new crops and livestock as well as replenished MUSOs (microcredit unions). The goal is that after two years of accompaniment, these families and communities will be able to grow autonomously.

We invite you to listen to some testimonials ([link removed]) that our local independent consultant collected in August and to review the timeline of the project ([link removed]). We plan on releasing a comprehensive report early in 2026 where we will measure the socioeconomic impact of these activities, comparing the baseline data collected in January 2025 with end-of-year results.

This pilot project could not have been possible without the generous contribution from our donors. Please consider a donation to support the expansion of this program in 2026.
Thank you!
