Only a week left to support CDT in 2025
([link removed])
In a challenging year, the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) continued to center civil rights and civil liberties in the digital age. From testifying in Congress, to helping the public and press understand the impact of major political and technology developments, to growing our voice and reach in the states, CDT has served as a leading voice on the newest developments in technology policy this year.
This holiday season, I hope you will be inspired to
support CDT through a contribution that is meaningful to you ([link removed]), and continue this critical work.
In 2025, contributions from individuals like you enabled us to:
* Speak out against the federal government's growing attacks on free expression and civil liberties, including politicized attacks on broadcasters and journalists, viewpoint-based immigration enforcement, social media monitoring, and the unprecedented federal efforts to amass sensitive personal data;
* Take a stand for the independent agencies and government watchdogs that protect consumers, workers, voters, and democratic government;
* Testify at the federal and state level, sharing insights on the need for strong privacy protections, appropriate AI guardrails and more;
* Grow our AI Governance Lab into a leading public interest resource on the newest developments and considerations in responsible AI;
* Provide technical assistance to a wide range of state and local agencies on effective AI adoption, while helping foster important networks for best practices;
* Survey tech users of all demographics to determine how they use technology and the safeguards they need and desire, advancing best practices on topics like age verification, combatting NCII, detecting unwanted content in livestreaming platforms, and content moderation in non-English languages;
* Release headline-making research on the use of AI in schools, providing needed guidance for educators and families;
* Continue our leadership on how technology impacts workers' rights, disability rights, and the rights of older Americans through dedicated projects and partnerships; and
* Gearing up for the midterms, launch new work on the impact of AI on elections, security gaps left by the cuts to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the gaps in regulation of political influencers on social media, and more.
As we build on this work in 2026, we hope you'll join us.
