Dear John,

I’m guessing you love the amazing photos and videos of animals that we share as much as I do. Honestly, it is one of the best perks of the job. But maybe you’re also like me and want to know how all that fuzzy, heart-warming footage informs conservation outcomes. What is Wildlands Network actually accomplishing in our quest to restore, reconnect, and rewild North America?

If you want to learn more about how we turn data into action, check out our most recent Impact Report.

Here are some of the highlights from the last year:
* We launched our most ambitious campaign to date—securing 25 wildlife crossings and $1 billion in public funding by 2030. Already, we've helped secure $25 million for four red wolf crossings on U.S. Highway 64, and helped New Mexico make history with a $50 million investment in wildlife corridors that we helped make possible through our legislative campaign.
* From Sonora to Arizona, we're making the return of jaguars possible. We're working with landowners to protect over 4,450 acres in the jaguar corridor and advocating for Sonora's first wildlife overpass on Highway 2. Jaguar sightings in Arizona and Sonora this summer alone show that our binational conservation work is paying off.
* California's Room to Roam Act—which we helped draft and champion—is now law, requiring cities and counties to incorporate wildlife connectivity into planning. In Maryland, years of our groundwork led to the Wildlife Connectivity and Crossings Act. In Virginia, we helped secure $450,000 in state funding for wildlife crossings.
* We’re documenting and sharing the impacts of the US/Mexico border wall so that the public understands what’s at stake - our research shows an 86% reduction in wildlife crossings across national boundaries. Our work featured in the film "Nature Divided" showed how small wildlife openings and gates can make a huge difference for the survival of wildlife in the borderlands.

As the leader of Wildlands Network’s California program, I have the privilege of working with my incredible team toward outcomes like these each day.

This past year, in California alone, we’ve crunched the data with partners to identify 6 new priority sites for highway safe passage structures that connect the highway safe passage structures that connect the Sierra Nevada mountains to the Great Basin, launched a new collaborative effort to map border crossing priorities for bighorn sheep and protect wildlife corridors along the U.S.-Mexico border, and kicked off a legislative campaign to get California’s regional transportation agencies to do their part to protect wildlife on our roads.

My teammates across the U.S. and Mexico are pursuing similar, impactful projects. All of us are deeply committed to realizing our Wildway vision, thanks to your continued support.

Will you support our team and make a difference to wildlife with a donation before the end of 2025? Let’s end this crazy year on a positive note.
