Email from Citizens for Traditional Values good news for you View in Browser It is because of a Savior we have Hope! People often wonder, "Eileen, how can you stay involved in politics? Isn't it so discouraging?" I live my life - and we drive our organization - on two principles: God has called us to be involved in local civics in the public arena. If our voice and values are not at the table, how can we expect them to be represented, defended, or preserved for future generations? Our responsibility is ultimately obedience to God. All results are up to Him. I do not place my hope in elections or party strategy or even people. Because of what happened over 2,000 years ago: a baby born of a virgin in a lowly manger who lived a perfect life and willingly chose to die on a cross for MY sins and then rose from death, I have hope (Matthew 2:10-14). Perhaps you too have been contemplating "life". May I encourage you to give Jesus a chance? In this world of chaos and confusion He gives PEACE. It is in Him alone that we have salvation, hope and eternal life. Take comfort – He seeks you and knows your innermost thoughts and still loves you. Psalm 139 is one of my favorite Psalms. Thank you for being part of our CTV community. Merry Christmas from our home to yours! Eileen McNeil President Things We are Tracking for You Good news! In response to the recent, egregious State Board of Education actions, new Education Bills have been introduced in the State House. House Bill 5363 – Expands Parental Notice and Opt-Out provisions Introduced by Rep. Jamie Thompson This bill EXPANDS existing parental notice and opt-out protections when classroom instruction includes sensitive topics. In addition to current requirements for instruction involving family planning or reproductive health, the bill adds gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, sexual attraction, and consent as topics that trigger advance notice and opt-out rights. Before a pupil may be enrolled in a class covering these areas, parents or legal guardians must be notified in advance, given the opportunity to review instructional materials, and informed of their right to excuse the pupil without academic penalty. House Bill 5364 - Requires Legislative APPROVAL by the House and Senate before any revisions to curriculum standards can be implemented Introduced by Rep. Gina Johnsen This will require legislative approval before any revisions can be made to the State Board of Education’s recommended curriculum content standards may be implemented or enforced. Revisions cannot take place unless approved by a concurrent resolution adopted by both the House of Representatives and the Senate. This change ensures that major education policy decisions affecting classrooms statewide are subject to public debate, recorded votes, and accountability to parents and taxpayers, while preserving full local school board control over curriculum decisions. Both bills have been referred to the House Committee on Education and Work-force. We will be monitoring this for you and update on future actions! Sign up for our Education Alert and stay informed Should Planned Parenthood track abortion data? We think so. The Michigan State House is pushing to bring back reporting for the abortions done in this state. CTV testified supporting this as well. The more data we have the more we know about this industry and preserve protections for women. Read the story here. May you and your family enjoy a blessed, peaceful time together. Merry Christmas!
