We've got two mysterious piles of prototype video game ROM chips, and we're going to find out what's on them during a live stream today at 12pm Pacific/3pm Eastern ([link removed]) . This was a lot of fun last time - we had over 700 viewers at one point! Come join the chat and hang out with us as we show you how data preservation happens.

We have no idea what most of these are, but we peeked ahead just a little bit and we absolutely guarantee you will see unreleased games today that have never been seen before!

** Winter Fundraiser Update:
WE DID IT!

Your generosity and your love of video game history came through! We have now exceeded our stretch goal, meaning that we have another comfortable year of preservation and education work ahead of us.

The campaign is still open - if you'd like to give, we could absolutely use more help ([link removed]) to expand our work even further! But for now, this successful campaign means that we can continue doing the things we do throughout 2026, without having to pause our work to seek financial opportunities.

So thank you, thank you, thank you! This was all because of your generosity. Video games matter, and we're so lucky knowing that you all believe that too.

** Don't forget about our Christmas video!

2025 is the 40th anniversary of the NES, and we’ve spent a lot of this year revisiting its history and piecing together just what happened to bring this remarkable system to market – and how it changed video games forever. This video reframes the history of the system and may just be the final word on how the NES came to be.

We'd love to give you a direct link to our YouTube Premiere, but we can't actually do that until the video is uploaded - and we're still finishing it up! The best way to make sure you don't forget is to subscribe to our YouTube channel ([link removed]) , but we'll send you a reminder email too.
Did you miss our other December events? We've got them all rounded up right here on our blog ([link removed]) .
