We've got two mysterious piles of prototype video game ROM chips, and we're going to find out what's on them during a live stream today at 12pm Pacific/3pm Eastern. Winter Fundraiser Update:
WE DID IT!


Your generosity and your love of video game history came through! We have now exceeded our stretch goal, meaning that we have another comfortable year of preservation and education work ahead of us.

The campaign is still open - if you'd like to give, we could absolutely use more help to expand our work even further! But for now, this successful campaign means that we can continue doing the things we do throughout 2026, without having to pause our work to seek financial opportunities.

2025 is the 40th anniversary of the NES, and we’ve spent a lot of this year revisiting its history and piecing together just what happened to bring this remarkable system to market – and how it changed video games forever. This video reframes the history of the system and may just be the final word on how the NES came to be.
