Axios - Scoop: GOP expects SCOTUS boost [[link removed]]
Straight from Axios , John: " President Trump's political team privately told big donors that the Supreme Court will soon issue rulings on voting rights and contribution limits that could tilt future elections their way. "
Two main cases are making the MAGA movement feel like things are going to break their way ahead of the 2026 elections:
➜ In Louisiana v. Callais , the court is set to decide whether to gut Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (VRA) and return to a time of racial gerrymandering. This would be the capstone of Chief Justice John Roberts career, as he's been working to neuter the VRA since he worked for Ronald Reagan.
➜ In National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) v. the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) , the court is tackling a case that could eliminate a federal law capping how much big-money party committees can spend in direct coordination with favored candidates. This could be the most consequential campaign finance case since the Citizens United decision opened the floodgates of corporate spending in our elections.
To be clear, these cases boil down to a simple idea: do voters get to make the decisions, or can politicians choose their voters and pump unlimited cash into their campaign coffers?
John: We have to spread the word about these cases and the consequences we would face in the worst comes to pass. Fuel our work to defend voting rights with $25 or whatever you can today >> [[link removed]]

The potential consequences of these cases are simple to understand and grave for voter participation. The harder we make it to vote, the more politicians make voter participation feel worthless, the less people actually take part. Needless to say, the less people who participate, the less our democracy and our government looks like the people it's supposed to represent.
Section 2 of the VRA requires that racial minorities have an equal opportunity to meaningfully participate in the electoral process. Gutting Section 2 would take us backwards in time and allow racial gerrymandering to be a standard practice, silencing more voters.
In the NRSC case, there are limits on how much political parties and outside entities can coordinate financially with certain candidates. Removing these FEC limits would make it easier for the uber-rich to direct spending and influence elections , limiting the value of voters and making it harder for challengers to enter the political process.
Just like the redistricting fights across the country, this is all about whether the party in power can choose their voters in order to stay in power in perpetuity.
We simply can't afford to go backwards like this. Will you chip in with $25 or more to help us fight back against these partisan efforts to silence voters and protect our fundamental right to vote? >> [[link removed]]

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
