Dear John,
Some stories stay with you long after you hear them. This is one of those stories.
A husband and wife in Oregon, devout Christians, faithful churchgoers, people who simply wanted to open their home to children who needed love, applied to become foster parents.
They were ready. They were trained. They were qualified.
But they were denied.
Why?
Because they would not agree to do two things the Oregon Department of Human Services required:
1. Affirm an LGBTQ child's sexual orientation or gender identity
2. Expose a foster child to religions other than their own
On those grounds alone, the State rejected them.
This wasn’t a question of safety. This wasn’t a question of competency. This wasn’t a question of the needs of a child.
It was a question of faith and whether that faith disqualified them from serving children who desperately need stable homes.
And it wasn’t just this couple. This is quickly becoming a pattern across the country.
That’s when PJI stepped in.
Our legal team is now representing them, challenging the State of Oregon for violating their constitutional rights and discriminating against them solely because of their Christian beliefs.
This isn’t simply a policy disagreement.
This is the government telling people of faith they are unfit to parent.
And that’s something PJI will not allow to stand.
Please donate to PJI this month to ensure we can continue to stand for people just like this couple in Oregon in 2026! ([link removed])

The Kellim case represents a broader cultural battle happening right now:
Christian families being pushed out of public systems simply for holding biblical convictions.
When this couple stepped forward to serve, they should have been welcomed, not punished.
PJI is fighting this case because we believe what many of you believe:
Loving Christian homes should never be excluded from caring for vulnerable children.
This is exactly why PJI exists.
This is exactly why your support matters.
And this is exactly why we are preparing major expansions in 2025 — including:
* The 25–50 Vision to place 25 attorneys across all 50 states so no family stands alone
* The Church Kiosk Initiative, equipping congregations with free legal resources
* And our largest Matching Grant ever, doubling every gift at year-end
Your gift today helps ensure that:
* No Christian family is told they are “unfit” to parent because of their faith
* No believer faces discrimination alone
* PJI has the attorneys and resources needed to fight back, in every state
Give Today - Your Gift is DOUBLED! ([link removed])
Thank you for standing with us in defending faith, family, and freedom.
