In the modern era, the internet has been an incredible good. Even social
media has been a net-positive — but our leaders have failed to adequately
deal with the bad parts of the online world.

Online communities continue to radicalize shooters and people filled with
hate to commit horrific acts. Hackers are targeting small-town America and
holding municipal systems hostage. Consumers have faced breach after
breach as Big Tech companies refuse to honor their promises, and be
transparent about how they’re using our information.

We need to do more to embrace the good, and minimize the bad. But first,
our leaders need to understand what they’re working with. Together, we can
make that a reality.
