Hi
Friend,
In case you missed it, I’m forwarding this note from Kora, my six-and-a-half-year-old daughter. She wrote it in honor of Giving Tuesday ([link removed]) and I’m so proud.

Kora is smart, sassy, and spunky. She and her siblings are my everything. Her story may sound familiar to you. She had her first seizure before she was one year old. She’s been through 10 different medications, a tough surgery, and more side effects than any child should endure. We’ve adjusted everything: school, sleep, travel — our entire way of life, all to keep Kora safe.

But what keeps us going is hope. And we find it in CURE Epilepsy.

Kora’s epilepsy is caused by a cortical dysplasia, and surgery is too risky of an option right now. But CURE Epilepsy is funding research that could lead to a safer procedure for her. ([link removed]) They help us see that, even though there aren’t answers today, there are answers out there.

And we need your help to find them.

Your Giving Tuesday gift supports the science that will bring us closer to a cure. ([link removed]) Like many of you, a world without seizures would change everything for our family.

Thank you for reading Kora’s note. Thank you for being part of our story, and for giving hope to millions of people.

With gratitude,

Nicole Kashmark

Kora’s mom and proud CURE Epilepsy Champion

GIVE in honor of all children living with epilepsy. ([link removed])

Hi! I’m Kora. I’m six-and-a-half, a big sister, and I have epilepsy.

I heard that today is Giving Tuesday and lots of people give money to help others. I hope you will help CURE Epilepsy. ([link removed]) Even a little bit makes a big difference.

I don’t like epilepsy. It makes my body do weird things. Sometimes my arm moves a lot or I fall over. Sometimes I wake up and I hurt, because I have seizures at night.

Because of epilepsy, I have to be careful all the time. I do school at home. I can’t always go to birthday parties. I can’t even go on the swings all by myself. And I have to take medicine that makes me feel yucky.

If there was a cure, I could go to sleepovers and play with my friends. I could run around and be silly and not have to stop because of a seizure. I could just be me.

My mom says the people at CURE Epilepsy are working hard to make it so no one has seizures anymore. That’s why we bake cookies every year to raise money for them.

Will you help them today? ([link removed]) Even a little bit matters. 💜

Thank you for helping kids like me feel better and do big things.

Love,

Kora 😊
