Hi
Friend,
In case you missed it, I’m forwarding this note from Kora, my six-and-a-half-year-old daughter. She wrote it in honor of Giving Tuesday and I’m so proud.
Kora is smart, sassy, and spunky. She and her siblings are my everything. Her story may sound familiar to you. She had her first seizure before she was one year old. She’s been through 10 different medications, a tough surgery, and more side effects than any child should endure. We’ve adjusted everything: school, sleep, travel — our entire way of life, all to keep Kora safe.
But what keeps us going is hope. And we find it in CURE Epilepsy.
Kora’s epilepsy is caused by a cortical dysplasia, and surgery is too risky of an option right now. But CURE Epilepsy is funding research that could lead to a safer procedure for her. They help us see that, even though there aren’t answers today, there are answers out there.
And we need your help to find them.
Your Giving Tuesday gift supports the science that will bring us closer to a cure. Like many of you, a world without seizures would change everything for our family.
Thank you for reading Kora’s note. Thank you for being part of our story, and for giving hope to millions of people.
With gratitude,
Nicole Kashmark
Kora’s mom and proud CURE Epilepsy Champion
