When you live with Parkinson's in a rural area, finding community
isn't always easy. Vicky is a Pilates teacher and personal trainer
who was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2021. Living far from big
cities and Parkinson's programs, she had to find her own way to stay
connected. "At first, I was trying to hide it," she says. Vicky has
since created a WhatsApp group with friends who also have
Parkinson's. She calls them her "Parky brothers." It's a space
where they check in on one another, connect, and share their
experiences. Her advice to others? "Talk to people. Don't hide it.
There's nothing to be ashamed of."
Discover how Vicky navigates Parkinson's, stays active, and builds
community from far away.
