At the age of 17, I took an Oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. Now I'm making another pledge. I commit to making the SALUTE Act the first bill I will introduce when I'm in Congress.
The SALUTE Act (Securing Active-duty Livelihoods Under Temporary Emergencies)—a common-sense law to guarantee that active-duty service members, Guard, and Reservists continue to receive full pay and benefits during any federal shutdown. No politics. No delays. Just paychecks on time.

The SALUTE Act protects military families from missed rent, car notes, child-care, and food costs by:
* Permanently guaranteeing pay and benefits for all uniformed personnel during a shutdown
* Automatically back-pays any unanticipated gap in funding
* Requires that if Members of Congress are paid, our troops are also paid.
