** CWA OUT ON STRIKE ACROSS THE SOUTH

Hey y'all!

This Friday at midnight, the Communication Workers of America have gone on strike against AT&T for the refusal to bargain with the union in good faith ([link removed]) . With that, 20,000 workers have walked off the job in the largest strike in the South in a generation. CWA has put out a call for solidarity and support, and NC Piedmont DSA has already answered in Greensboro and Winston-Salem.

I've made a map of picket line locations in North Carolina that can be found here ([link removed]) . Most pickets will be running from 7am to 7pm, unless otherwise noted.

If you plan on attending a picket, the following is non-negotiable:

IF A CWA PICKET CAPTAIN TELLS YOU TO STOP DOING SOMETHING, STOP DOING IT.
Labor law regarding strikes is a rat's nest of complications and the overall climate on adjudicating disputes between the bosses and the union is very much against the union. As such, if someone from CWA tells you to not do something, don't do it. We are guests showing our support and solidarity, and we take our cues from the folks out on the line.

There's also no expectation for you to be there the entire time a picket is going. Drop by for a bit on your way to work or on your lunch break, maybe bring your own sign, maybe bring some donuts or coffee. More than anything, just showing up for even a half hour makes a huge difference to the workers on strike.
