Starbucks Baristas Vote to Authorize Unfair Labor Practice Strike! [[link removed]]
I'm a unionized Starbucks barista and elected strike captain at my Columbus, OH store -- and I'm proud to tell you that 92% of baristas across the country just voted to authorize an open-ended strike until we get the pay and hours they owe us, as well as an end to union busting.
We didn't take this decision lightly. We take pride in our jobs. But after months of Starbucks stalling, breaking the law, and breaking promises to avoid a fair union contract, we've had enough.
We've elected hundreds of strike captains like me in hundreds of cities across the country and held practice pickets in over 70 cities. A strike authorization vote tells Starbucks that we mean business -- and that we'll go on strike if they don't come back to us with a fair deal.
We are the people who make this company run. It's time Starbucks respects us. You can help support us by doing one simple thing:
>>>> Sign the “No Coffee, No Contract” pledge. Don't buy Starbucks during our strike. <<<< [[link removed]]
For nine months, we made progress in bargaining. Then Starbucks walked away from the table. Meanwhile, CEO Brian Niccol is one of the highest-paid CEOs in the country.
> We've been crystal clear about what our demands:
> Better hours so stores aren't constantly short-staffed
> Higher take-home pay so we can cover rent and groceries
> Real accountability for the company's union-busting and unfair labor practices
The kicker? The difference between the contract we deserve and what they're offering us is less than one average day's sales. It's insulting that they don't think that we're even worth that much.
Help support our fight. Sign the "No Contract, No Coffee" pledge today. Commit to not buying Starbucks during our strike. [[link removed]]
We'll keep you in the loop about the fight to come in the next couple of weeks. We are ready to do whatever it takes to win a fair contract. Will you join us? [[link removed]]
