I’m a unionized Starbucks barista and elected strike captain at my Columbus, OH store — and I’m proud to tell you that 92% of baristas across the country just voted to authorize an open-ended strike until we get the pay and hours they owe us, as well as an end to union busting.
We didn’t take this decision lightly. We take pride in our jobs. But after months of Starbucks stalling, breaking the law, and breaking promises to avoid a fair union contract, we’ve had enough.
We’ve elected hundreds of strike captains like me in hundreds of cities across the country and held practice pickets in over 70 cities. A strike authorization vote tells Starbucks that we mean business — and that we’ll go on strike if they don’t come back to us with a fair deal.
