ACLU Supporter, today, voters in states across the country will cast their ballots in state, local, and special elections.

As people make and carry out their plans to vote, we're reminding everyone of their rights at the polls.

This year, however, it's a sad reality that many people may be voting in communities bearing the brunt of President Trump's ongoing abuses of power, including unjustified National Guard deployments and an increased presence of federal immigration agents. Most importantly, you have the right to vote free from intimidation – and no federal, state, or local official can intimidate or threaten anyone in order to interfere with their right to vote.

That's why, along with our usual guide to help you exercise your right to vote, we've put together a new resource about your right to vote free from intimidation – and what to do if you run into federal agents at your polling place. And as always, don't forget these key rights and resources you have when you go to vote:

* If the polls close while you're still in line, stay in line. You have the right to vote.

* If you make a mistake on your ballot, ask for a new one.

* If the machines are down at your polling place, ask for a paper ballot.

* If you run into any problems or have questions on Election Day, call the Election Protection Hotline:

* Nationwide, attorneys and local advocates are monitoring today's elections and are ready to step in to protect you at the polls and ensure every vote is counted, no matter what.

* Remember, Election Day might not be "results day" – and that's normal. With absentee ballots, mail-in ballots, and other considerations, it takes time for election officials to count every vote.
