ACLU Supporter, today, voters in states across the country will cast their ballots in state, local, and special elections. As people make and carry out their plans to vote, we're reminding everyone of their rights at the polls. This year, however, it's a sad reality that many people may be voting in communities bearing the brunt of President Trump's ongoing abuses of power, including unjustified National Guard deployments and an increased presence of federal immigration agents. Most importantly, you have the right to vote free from intimidation – and no federal, state, or local official can intimidate or threaten anyone in order to interfere with their right to vote. That's why, along with our usual guide to help you exercise your right to vote, we've put together a new resource about your right to vote free from intimidation – and what to do if you run into federal agents at your polling place. Check it out and share with voters in your community.
And as always, don't forget these key rights and resources you have when you go to vote:
The freedom to vote is the very foundation of our democracy – but the work to protect our rights doesn't begin or end on Election Day. Thanks for staying with us in this critical work. Together, The ACLU Team |
