There is less than one week until People, Power, Resilience, our 20th Anniversary event in New York City on November 3!
We are honored to be featuring aja monet, a Grammy-nominated musician, poet, storyteller, and organizer born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. For years, aja monet has been a powerful part of the movement for social justice. Her poetry explores gender, race, migration, and spirituality. Her debut poetry album, when the poems do what they do , was nominated for a Grammy Best Spoken Word Poetry Album in 2024. aja monet released her latest book of poems, florida water , with Haymarket Books on June 3rd, 2025.
We will also be displaying the work of artist Nzingah Oyo. Oyo is an American-born, Brooklyn-based visual artist, photographer, and curator. Her work depicts layered narratives that examine and celebrate culture, politics, and global social dynamics.
