DFPS Seeks Input on its Legislative Appropriation Request for the 2028-2029 Biennium



In preparation for the 90th Legislative Session that begins in January 2027, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is beginning the process to develop its Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR). The LAR’s significance is substantial, as it will outline the agency’s funding needs for fiscal years 2028 through 2029. DFPS will submit its LAR request to the Texas Legislature in August 2026.

You are our partners in this important process, and we welcome your insight and input as we develop our funding requests. Please submit your funding request recommendations and any pertinent supporting materials to *[email protected]* <[email protected]>*.*

The deadline for suggestions is Monday, December 1, 2025. We look forward to your recommendations!
