A goal of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s fish division is to provide angling access within biking distance for children in every community in the state. Many cities and towns have their own fishing area nearby. In Cheyenne, *community fisheries* [ [link removed] ] are limited to two spots — Lake Absarraca and Sloans Lake. That number looks to increase by three.

Jessica's Pond, a popular community fishery located just outside of Casper along the North Platte River at the Dan Speas Fish Hatchery, is *now closed due to the discovery of invasive New Zealand mudsnails.* [ [link removed] ] This closure is a precautionary measure to protect the nearby Dan Speas Fish Hatchery. 




Reminder: Fishing regulation changes to go into effect on Jan 1

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reminds anglers of important *changes to fishing regulations* [ [link removed] ] in the Jackson Region, set to take effect on January 1, 2026. These updates include lifting the October fishing closure on Jackson Lake and increasing the trout limit on a specific section of the Snake River.






"Wyoming Wildlife" Photo Contest open for entries

Photographers of all ages and skill levels can have their work published in "Wyoming Wildlife "magazine as part of the *magazine’s annual photo contest* [ [link removed] ], which is now accepting submissions. Contestants can submit up to 10 photos across all four categories: wildlife, flora, scenic and recreation.
