Email from Doorways In this issue: Open Hearts, Open Doors In the News Corporate Spotlight Upcoming Events Open Hearts, Open Doors Success As Need Continues to Grow Doorways’ Open Hearts, Open Doors event at The Falls was a heartwarming night of friendship and team spirit! Our community came together once again to provide safe harbor, healing, and hope to our neighbors in crisis. Thanks to our sponsors and guests, we exceeded our fundraising goal for this year’s event and raised over $400,000! That is critical, as the need for emergency shelter continues to outpace our funding. Our Safehouse remains full, so we are using hotel rooms as additional shelter for neighbors escaping violence, at a cost of over $200 per room per night. As we head into the holidays, we expect the need for shelter to continue increasing, straining our limited funds. You and your ongoing support can enable us to shelter survivors even when our Safehouse is already at capacity, ensuring that no one in crisis has to wait. Thank you for your lifesaving gifts. We appreciate you! See Event Photos In the News The Nonprofits That Make Up Arlington’s Safety Net Are Hurting "We're worried about the fallout in the months to come," she says. We are all, knowingly or not, connected to someone who has experienced or is experiencing domestic violence." "As National Domestic Violence Awareness Month closes at the end of the month, let us unite and continue to build on these critical discussions and initiatives to combat and eradicate domestic violence."
