Doorways’ Open Hearts, Open Doors event at The Falls was a heartwarming night of friendship and team spirit! Our community came together once again to provide safe harbor, healing, and hope to our neighbors in crisis.  

Thanks to our sponsors and guests, we exceeded our fundraising goal for this year’s event and raised over $400,000! That is critical, as the need for emergency shelter continues to outpace our funding.

Our Safehouse remains full, so we are using hotel rooms as additional shelter for neighbors escaping violence, at a cost of over $200 per room per night. As we head into the holidays, we expect the need for shelter to continue increasing, straining our limited funds.

You and your ongoing support can enable us to shelter survivors even when our Safehouse is already at capacity, ensuring that no one in crisis has to wait.

This Is Domestic Violence Awareness Month — But Let’s Talk About It All Year

"Way too often, we see heart-breaking headlines where parents in our community are killed by their intimate partners, leaving children orphaned. These are just the stories that make the news, but the problem is much more widespread. It is affecting every ZIP code, race and demographic, and it is affecting every one of us. We are all, knowingly or not, connected to someone who has experienced or is experiencing domestic violence."

Lady Octopus cares about Arlington! Our friends have hosted two “Flash Sale Fundraisers” for Doorways in 2024 and 2025, raising over $7,500 for survivors! (and inking a few of our staff, too!) Co-owners Gilda and Jonathan have also held events to raise funds for our friends at Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and more of our partners. Thank you to them!

Project PEACE Biannual Meeting

Join us from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Lubber Run Community Center as we honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month and work to build a stronger, more connected network across the Arlington community.

This in-person-only meeting will feature a comprehensive panel discussion, an interactive Blueprint activity, a group photo opportunity, and more.

The theme of this gathering, "From Change to Lasting Impact," reflects our shared commitment to meaningful, sustained progress.

Survivors, partner agency staff, clients, volunteers, interns, and all community members are warmly welcome.
