Friend, it's Andrew. Today, I want to talk to you about the latest bill I introduced in Albany.
If you haven't been following the news, the latest step in Trump's attempts to send the National Guard into Democrat-led cities across the country includes him circumventing federal protections by encouraging Republican Governors to, essentially, do it for him.
My new bill seeks to counter this practice by protecting New York from illegal invasion by other states' National Guard. It does so by requiring the Governors of other states to get consent from the Governor of New York before sending their troops here, safeguarding our civil liberties in the process.
It's sad that we need to protect New York from a potential invasion by fellow Americans, but this is reality under the second Trump administration.
Before I dive into the details of this bill, my team has our big End of Month Deadline coming up next week β€” the last one before the upcoming election. With just $5,822 left to raise online, can you chip in to help us reach our Goal and support candidates on the ballot who care as much as I do about keeping our communities safe? [[link removed]]

Friend, since he took office last January, Trump has only ramped up his threats to use state National Guards against states that he views as "uncooperative" with his mass deportation agenda.
In recent months, he's even gone as far as to say that so-called "dangerous" Democrat-led cities should be used as "training grounds" for the military.
With the President describing cities full of Americans as "the enemy within" and insisting he should be allowed to use armed forces for domestic civilian law enforcement, an attempt by Trump to send the National Guard to our state almost feels inevitable.
So last week, I introduced legislation to get ahead of him. My new bill would proactively require other states to obtain consent from New York's Governor before deploying their National Guard troops in our state.
It follows the lead of several other states that have similar laws by establishing a clear statutory requirement that states obtain affirmative, advance consent from New York's governor before deploying National Guard Troops into our state β€” protecting residents while reaffirming the governor's constitutional role.
Friend, this proposal is about much more than Trump. It's a commonsense way to ensure public safety, prevent interstate conflict, and safeguard our civil liberties in an era of growing autocracy and political violence.
If you support proposals like these, my team and I are working hard to spread the word about like-minded candidates on the ballot this Tuesday. To maximize our outreach, we just need $5,822 to meet our online End of Month Fundraising Goal before the deadline. Will you help us reach it with a donation of just a few bucks today?
