At hearings on Wednesday, the conservative-controlled Supreme Court showed strong support for gutting the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which was designed to protect people from being denied or restricted from voting based on race, color, or language.
This is part of a much bigger plan. Since taking control, Republicans have:
* Tried to kill mail-in voting
* Rammed through extreme gerrymandering
* Targeted election officials
* Undermined trust in our democracy at every turn
Now they’re coming for the very laws that our own John Lewis fought for during the Civil Rights movement — so it’s time for us to get into good trouble.
