Ward 1 is one of the most diverse communities in Aurora. It's also where social justice and environmental justice collide. It's home to the privately run GEO ICE Processing Center, and it’s under threat from corporate polluters.

As you read this message, there's a massive 166-well fracking project proposed just outside the city, and it’s right next to the Aurora Reservoir, which supplies drinking water to 400,000 Coloradans.

Fossil fuel interests know exactly how high the stakes are, and they're counting on Aurora to lock in their two-seat conservative majority on the city council and keep these fossil fuel projects alive. This open seat gives us a real chance to break that hold and elect a climate leader who will fight back.
