Support NOW during Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Dear John,
When I joined NOW in 1987, the first action I took was organizing a Take Back the Night rally at the Old State Capitol in Illinois to raise funds for local domestic violence and sexual assault agencies.
At the time, the overwhelming sentiment around violence against women was that domestic abuse was “a private matter.” And far too often, survivors of assault were silenced, ignored, and shamed.
I wish I could say that nearly 40 years later, there’s been a massive cultural shift and violence against women—and girls—has ceased being a nationwide problem.
But that’s not the case, and it’s why this Domestic Violence Awareness Month, NOW continues to fight for a future where women and girls can live freely and safely.
Will you make a gift of $20, $40, or more to NOW today to let us know that you’re with us in this fight?

Because of generous supporters like you powering NOW’s fierce advocacy, the Violence Against Women Act was signed into law , and it continues to be reauthorized, funded, and improved.
But there’s more work for us to do, especially as we also challenge the cultural forces that normalize violence against women and silence survivors. From online harassment to disinformation campaigns that demean women and girls, these dangerous trends fuel an environment where abuse is excused, and accountability is rare.
Lasting safety requires both stronger laws and a transformation of the culture that has tolerated violence for too long. This is what NOW is fighting for.
During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I am asking you to stand with NOW and stand with survivors as we demand change at every level of society.
Let us—and the millions of women and girls across our country—know that you’re in the fight, too, by making as generous a gift as you are able to NOW today.
