CLEAN ENERGY INSIDER

REAMS REPORT

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It was wonderful seeing so many of you at 9th annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW) ([link removed]) !

With dozens of lawmakers, industry leaders and participants in attendance, and new polling ([link removed]) from CRES about Republican support for clean energy, this NCEW was the best yet. Thanks to our friends, sponsors and decisionmakers, NCEW had thought-provoking panels, armchair discussions and policymaker remarks from both sides of the aisle.

I thoroughly enjoyed moderating the permitting reform panel at the Policymakers Symposium as well as the conversation at the NCEW dinner with Chairman Bruce Westerman and Rep. Golden about their bipartisan permitting reform bill, the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development, or SPEED Act ([link removed]) , which CRES has endorsed.

September has been an especially busy month. The CRES team traveled to Las Vegas for RE+ ([link removed]) earlier in the month and to the Big Apple last week for New York Climate Week ([link removed]) . I spoke on several panels about bipartisan engagement to advance clean energy.

A big surprise was an even-keeled conversation ([link removed]) with renowned clean tech investor and climate advocate Tom Steyer. He and I come at climate solutions differently, but we found plenty to agree on.

We also had our annual Clean Energy Champions celebration, where we honored Sens. Curtis (R-Utah) and Murkowski (R-Alaska), and Reps. Garbarino (R-N.Y.) and Kiggans (R-Va.) and their staffs!

With the 10th anniversary of NCEW next year, we are already planning something special! If you’re interested in learning more about NCEW 2026, please reach out to our Vice President of External Relations, Angela Chiappetta, at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .
Sincerely,
Heather Reams
CRES President and CEO

WHAT CRES IS HEARING
“It was an honor to be chosen as one of this year’s Congressional Clean Energy Champions, and to help kick off National Clean Energy Week’s Policymakers Symposium as a keynote speaker. I reinforced my commitment to policies that allow Alaska and our nation to capitalize on the full spectrum of resources available here at home, including clean energy—which remains critical to energy abundance, domestic job creation, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.” – Sen. Lisa Murkowski in a statement ([link removed]) .
––

“It’s interesting, in deep red Utah, not one person will say they don’t want to leave the earth better than they found it.” – Sen. John Curtis in remarks ([link removed]) at NCEW.
––

“We have to be supportive of every form [of energy] out there….I’m also proud to be Vice Chair of the Conservative Climate Caucus and one of the missions is to advance clean energy production and critical minerals in America.” – Rep. Juan Ciscomani in a statement ([link removed]) .
––

“As Chairman of the Energy Subcommittee on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I’m committed to advancing policies that boost U.S. energy production and innovation, drive down costs, and ensure our nation’s long-term energy security.” – Rep. Bob Latta in a statement ([link removed]) .
––

"I’m working to fix our broken permitting system so we can deliver cleaner energy, safer infrastructure, and more jobs- all while increasing the amounts of energy available domestically" – Rep. Jen Kiggans in a statement ([link removed]) .
––

“But without NEPA reform, which is the key part of permitting reform, I don’t think there is any kind of a permitting reform bill. Everything hinges on NEPA.” – Chairman Bruce Westerman in a statement ([link removed]) .
––
