Oregon police slam Trump’s Portland takeover

- Oregon law enforcement officials slammed ([link removed] ) President Donald Trump's use of the National Guard to militarize Portland, charging in new court filings that it’s unwarranted and a threat to public safety that could incite larger protests.

Missouri governor signs extreme gerrymander into law

- Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe (R) signed ([link removed] ) the state’s gerrymander — conducted at Trump’s request — into law Sunday. If the plan withstands a court challenge and a ballot measure aimed at blocking it, the GOP will have locked in a 7–1 majority in the U.S. House for the rest of the decade.

Advocates push back against DOJ voter data grab

- The Pennsylvania Alliance for Retired Americans filed to intervene as defendants in a DOJ lawsuit ([link removed] ) seeking access to the state's voter registration data, arguing the department’s demands threaten voter privacy and violate state law.

- "I worry that the threat of disclosure will deter… senior citizens from engaging in the political process,” the group’s president wrote. “The senior community is deeply concerned about the risks of identity theft and social security fraud, which disproportionately harm older Americans."

- In a win for voters, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled ([link removed] ) that Washington County election officials violated voters’ procedural due process when they rejected mail-in ballots with technical errors — like missing signatures or dates — without notifying voters. The court also held that voters must be given notice their ballots won’t count so they can either challenge the disqualification or cast a provisional ballot.

DOJ asks SCOTUS to disregard Constitution, end birthright citizenship

- Trump’s DOJ is pushing ([link removed] ) the Supreme Court to end birthright citizenship — a right guaranteed by the 14th Amendment and upheld by the court for over a century. Multiple federal courts have already ruled Trump’s order to be unconstitutional.
