Fellow Conservative,
As conservatives across the world continue to mourn the loss of our friend Charlie Kirk, we are reminded that there’s work to be done to save our country. It’s now up to each of us to honor Charlie’s relentless fight.
Heritage Action is more committed than ever to help lead the way to fight for America’s future. Whether it’s becoming a Heritage Action Sentinel <[link removed]>, using one of our advocacy tools <[link removed]>, or simply forwarding this email to a friend, you have a role to play in letting the radical Left know we are not backing down.
Investigating the Marxist Money Machine
It is critical that policymakers in D.C. meet the moment by doing all they can to stop radical left-wing violence and the Marxist money machine that fuels it.
Heritage Action is encouraging Members of Congress to support Congressman Chip Roy's effort to form a select committee <[link removed]> to investigate left-wing violence in America. This select committee, if empowered with all necessary congressional authorities to fully accomplish its objective could bring real transparency and accountability to the left-wing NGO apparatus that has sown chaos and fueled violent attacks and killings across our nation.
Establishing a select committee would be a step in the right direction. But for it to be successful, it must be properly equipped with subpoena powers, funded and staffed. Otherwise, it risks becoming like other recent select committees that have accomplished very little. That’s why — if it moves forward — Heritage Action will be holding congressional leaders’ feet to the fire to ensure Congress fully utilizes its power to investigate, but in order to get to that point, the grassroots need to speak up.
Here Comes the Schumer Shutdown
What else is going on with Congress? Well…
Making DC Safe Again
Earlier this week, the House passed a number of bills to make our nation’s capital safer, including H.R. 4922, the DC CRIMES Act of 2025 led by Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL). This simple but commonsense bill ensures that individuals over the age of 18 are tried as adults and not as juveniles in DC. Currently, some individuals tried as juveniles are as old as 24! The House also passed H.R. 5143, the District of Columbia Policing Protection Act of 2025, which removes absurd restrictions on police and allows them to pursue suspects fleeing in a motor vehicle.
Democrat Funding Obstruction
On Friday, the House passed a clean continuing resolution to extend government funding through November 21, but Senate Democrats voted it down.
Democrats are threatening to shutdown the government in an attempt to slow the Trump agenda. Publicly, they have been demanding to extend COVID-era Obamacare subsidies and roll back the One Big Beautiful Bill Act’s important Medicaid reforms. But in reality, Democrats are grasping for a reason to shut down the government because they are scared to buck their radical base. When Schumer and Democrats voted for a CR in March, they were threatened with primary challenges.
Soon, Americans will find out if Democrats are willing to stop grandstanding and put the American people first.
Confirming Trump’s Nominees
Meanwhile, the Senate just went “nuclear” on the nominations process by changing the rules of the Senate to allow confirmations to be voted on in groups – or “en bloc,” as opposed to individually. This was done to get around the Democrats’ unprecedented hold on “unanimous consent” confirmations for non-controversial appointees. Heritage Action will continue to press senators to do the work and confirm President Trump’s nominees.

Missouri’s Big Wins
The “Protect Missouri Voters” amendment (HJR 3) was successfully referred to the voters for approval! This proposed constitutional amendment bans foreign nationals from funding ballot measure campaigns in Missouri. It also ensures a fair petition process by creating penalties for fraudulent petition signatures and improves transparency by requiring the full text of proposed constitutional amendments to be given to voters with their ballots. The most significant change is that it provides fair representation by requiring that any proposed amendment to the state constitution needs to be passed in each of Missouri’s eight congressional districts, not just by a simple statewide majority.
Since this is a proposed change to the state constitution, it doesn’t require the governor’s signature. Missouri voters will now decide the issue during the November 2026 general election.
In other news, the Missouri Senate also passed the redistricting bill (HB 1), which is now awaiting Governor Mike Kehoe's signature. If signed into law, the new congressional map will give Republicans one new seat in the U.S. House.
Happy Constitution Day!
On September 17th, America celebrated the 238th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution — the cornerstone of the American Experiment.
Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the Constitution, the foundational document that outlines the structure and operation of America’s three branches of government. The day presents an opportunity to reflect on the history of the document, its unique design for government, and its profound impact on our nation.
