Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) My PANA Act Amendment Passes Unanimously in House Foreign Affairs Committee Washington D.C.- This week, my PANA Act amendment to the State Department reauthorization bill, secured unanimous approval during the House Foreign Affairs Committee markup. The amendment establishes a “Venezuela Restoration Fund”, made up of nearly $4 billion in frozen assets in the United States seized from corrupt regime operatives tied to Chavez and Maduro. These resources will be redirected to help build Venezuela’s democracy and freedom. This is a crucial time for Venezuela and thanks to President Trump’s leadership, the Maduro Regime is wavering, and it could fall. Once Maduro and his cronies are gone it will be necessary to rebuild Venezuela from the destruction of Socialism. The PANA Act takes stolen money and turns it into a tool for freedom. Important Updates on the House Financial Services Committee This week, I attended several important hearings at the House Financial Services Committee, and am I happy to report updates on ongoing legislation. The Housing and Insurance Subcommittee, where I serve, held a critical hearing on reauthorizing the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA). Key Miami institutions like the University of Miami depend on TRIA’s safety net to guarantee affordable, reliable coverage in case of natural disasters or terrorism. Without it, coverage would be unaffordable and sometimes even impossible. Additionally, as part of my work on the Committee, I was pleased to support the Financial Exploitation Prevention Act (H.R. 2478) this week. Scammers are getting smarter, and too many of our seniors have been targeted and tricked into losing their hard-earned savings. This bill is a simple, commonsense step to help stop that. It lets investment companies put a quick pause on suspicious withdrawals if they think fraud is happening—giving families time to step in before the money is gone. I’m so proud to serve on the Financial Services Committee, one of the most powerful Committees in Congress, where we constantly tackle crucial issues across banking, housing, insurance, and securities! In the Media: Meet the Press Now On Meet the Press, I made it clear: Political violence has no place in America — we resolve differences with words, not hate. Preventing a government shutdown remains a top priority. Maduro is a cartel dictator and I salute President Trump for showing America’s strength and defending our citizens.
