Keep helping to bear witness to the Genocide in Palestine
------------------------------------------------------------

In these times of the relentless genocide and ethnic cleansing violence and destruction of Palestine and Palestinians carried out by Israel, Rights Action again shares information about the Witness Gaza Project ([link removed]) .
Our genocide: This live-streamed genocide is armed, funded, politically supported and ‘legitimized’ by the U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, England, France, Italy & others in Western Europe.

This is one more small, important effort to get funds to Palestinians in Palestine, doing their very best, every day, to survive. The project was initiated by Rebecca Cutter and her Palestinian friend Mohammad Alatar. Some of Rights Action’s work overlaps with work Rebecca is involved with in the Achi region of Rabinal, one of four Mayan regions in Guatemala that suffered genocides, 1978-1983, planned and carried out by the U.S. and Western-backed regimes in power at that time.

Update from the West Bank
Dear Friends,
I can imagine how overwhelmed you must feel if you are plugged into the news. The videos from Al Jazeera of the bombings today alone are more than distressing.
In my calls with Mohammed over the past week, he was transporting students to blood drives, as this is one of the only things that can be done to support the injured in Gaza from the West Bank. Here is a message from Mohammed that I received today.
"The photographers we are working with in Gaza are all in the north, where the final assault on Gaza City is unfolding. For the past three days, we have lost all contact with them. Israel has cut off the internet in northern Gaza, and we do not know their whereabouts or what condition they are in. We can only hope and pray for their safety.
At the same time, another colleague in Gaza witnessed a direct strike on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. He filmed the entire scene—the explosion, the chaos, and the journalist who was standing on top of the building to cover the conflict. Four journalists were killed in that single strike. The footage is heartbreaking, but it is also powerful. We will turn it into a short clip to show the world the reality of what it means to be a journalist in Gaza."
We thank you for your donations to the campaign. All the funds have been sent to photojournalists in Gaza, and we are having difficulties keeping in touch with them. We pray for their safety.
In peace and light,
Rebecca

Genocide as policy
Rights Action shares this information to broaden understanding of what countries of “the West” support and legitimize. There should be no surprise that the U.S., Canada and the West are support and legitimizing Israel’s genocide in Palestine.
Since 1994, Rights Action has helped document and denounce the role of “the West” - led by the U.S., with allies Britain, France, Israel, Germany & then military regimes in Chile, Argentina, Colombia - in supporting and legitimizing genocide in four Mayan regions of Guatemala, 1978-1983.
Genocide of Maya Achi people: Since 1994, Rights Action has supported a wide range of community-led projects in the Maya Achi region of Rabinal, Baja Verapaz, working directly with victim-survivors of the genocide planned and carried out there. Cashing in on genocide: The 2021 book TESTIMONIO-Canadian Mining in the Aftermath of Genocides in Guatemala ([link removed]) documents how the Canadian-led, global mining industry led a renewed weave of mining investment in Guatemala soon after the genocides.
Change media sources
Rights Action urges everyone to diversify their news sources, as a necessary antidote to the oftentimes harmful, misleading reporting coming from much of the government and corporate media in the U.S., the E.U. and Canada. We recommend Al Jazeera news ([link removed]) , Democracy Now ([link removed]) , The Real News ([link removed]) , etc.
