Update from the West Bank
Dear Friends,
I can imagine how overwhelmed you must feel if you are plugged into the news. The videos from Al Jazeera of the bombings today alone are more than distressing.
In my calls with Mohammed over the past week, he was transporting students to blood drives, as this is one of the only things that can be done to support the injured in Gaza from the West Bank. Here is a message from Mohammed that I received today.
"The photographers we are working with in Gaza are all in the north, where the final assault on Gaza City is unfolding. For the past three days, we have lost all contact with them. Israel has cut off the internet in northern Gaza, and we do not know their whereabouts or what condition they are in. We can only hope and pray for their safety.
At the same time, another colleague in Gaza witnessed a direct strike on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. He filmed the entire scene—the explosion, the chaos, and the journalist who was standing on top of the building to cover the conflict. Four journalists were killed in that single strike. The footage is heartbreaking, but it is also powerful. We will turn it into a short clip to show the world the reality of what it means to be a journalist in Gaza."
We thank you for your donations to the campaign. All the funds have been sent to photojournalists in Gaza, and we are having difficulties keeping in touch with them. We pray for their safety.
In peace and light,
Rebecca
